About

Brett Hutchins is Co-Director of the Research Unit in Media Studies in the Faculty of Arts at Monash University, Melbourne, Australia. Drawing upon sociology of media and media studies perspectives, his research investigates the social implications of technological transformation and, in particular, the movement from analogue-print to digital-convergent media systems. He uses both sports media and environmental media as case studies in his writing. Completing a PhD in sociology at the University of Queensland in 2001, he has also taught at the University of Tasmania in Hobart and the University of Canberra.
